Start Your Security PlanHave Questions?
How many sites are supported for each security subscription?
1 Site. Each maintenance subscription covers a single WordPress or Woocommerce installation. If you would like to have us manage multiple websites ask about a discount.
How do I pay?
Payments are automatically charged every 30 days from the registration date until canceled. You can easily cancel your subscription anytime, no contracts, or cancelation fees.
Do you provide security & maintenance for multisite WordPress installations?
Yes, but the scale of your multisite installation may require additional subscriptions.
What is staging or a sandbox?
Staging is a copy of your site. Its an exact replica of the live site, where testing can take place without any risk of errors or downtime being made public. Staging is also commonly known as a sandbox.
There are many benefits to staging during a project development and this configuration is ideal for experimenting with new features, functions or code changes.
What do you do when there is a conflict between plugins, themes or WordPress core?
We begin debugging the conflict to isolate the cause. Then we will code to resolve the issue by writing well-structured standardized code using the programming language required for the given situation (HTML, CSS, PHP, javascript, jquery, ajax, etc) including clear definitions in comments and notes throughout our changes.
Our goal is to create a long-term solution, not a band-aid patchwork.
Depending on the complexity of the conflict and its resolution we will create a document that includes instructions on reproducing the problem as well as how it was resolved.
This conflict/resolution document could then be provided to the theme/plugin or WordPress developers for inclusion in future updates.
What happens if an update breaks the site and you can't resolve it
All updates are first tested on a copy of the site (staging, for plans that include staging) so the issue will not affect your live public-facing site.
Once we have exhausted every possible attempt at coding a repair, we proceed to apply the updates that are successful and roll back any conflicting or failed updates.
First, we document the error or bug and list the conflicting resources.
Next, we roll back the update on the staging site and apply the updates again excluding the culprit(s) of course.
Then successful updates are applied to the live site.
Finally, we notify the plugin or theme developers, providing as much detail as possible to allow them to reproduce the problem. This gives the developer the opportunity to fix the problem in a future update.
When conflicts do occur it’s often between two (or more) independent developer’s plugin/theme code. Providing the documentation to both parties allows them to collaborate to find a solution.
Theme or plugin developers not helping? Yes, you can hire our dedicated development team to find a solution!
My theme, plugins or core has been modified. Can you still support it?
We can still support your site installation but we are unable to guarantee complete updates to the modified components. Depending on the scale of modification you can chat with our developers to find a proper solution and migrate the changes to an appropriate file, for example into your child theme functions.php file.
What hosting platforms do you support?
Ideally, your hosting environment should be based on CentOS (or any flavor of Linux) with WHM/cPanel installed + phpMyAdmin. We are comfortable with most of the popular shared hosting environments as well.
If you are hosting on a unique environment contact us with the server details and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
*Please note, many shared host environments have limitations on the hosting configuration and settings. Therefore we might not be able to perform all the tasks we would like.
*We can also provide our maintenance service on servers without WHM/cPanel using Terminal/Shell at an additional cost. Contact us to discuss your specific needs.
Is WordPress and Woocommerce maintenance available in my country?
We are located in Canada and provide WordPress maintenance services globally. We’re happy to maintain and help manage your site regardless of where you live or where your site is hosted.
*Note our maintenance support is limited to the English language at this time.
Do I have to provide WordPress administrator privileges to your tech support staff?
Yes, we will require an administrator account on your WordPress installation to perform the maintenance service.
After subscribing for maintenance support we will register or have you register a new account on your site using our support email. Then you can change the user role to admin from your WordPress users dashboard.
Do I have to give you my administrator account and password?
No, your account and password are safe with you. We will register or have you register a new account on your site using our support email. Then you can change the user role to admin from your WordPress users dashboard.
I think I've been hacked even though everything is up-to-date!
We’ll investigate immediately to determine if in fact your site has been compromised. In the event your site actually has been hacked, its time to initiate our security and recovery action plan.
- Quarantine the site and notify the hosting company
- Check for malicious admin accounts
- Determine the severity of the attack, and its intentions
- Re-verify ownership of the site with Google Webmaster
- File manipulation assessment and report
- Find the vulnerability and take action to correct it
- Begin cleaning the site and files
- Check the server and database
- Remove any unnecessary plugins, themes or add-ons
- Check the public face of the site to confirm content is restored
- If the site has been flagged by Google, request a review.
Depending on the severity of the attack, rolling back to a known safe backup could be the best/quickest option.
A highly active site and notably Woocommerce installations will require special care to maintain database records pertaining to purchases, shipping, and customer details for example.
We will take the time to isolate any clean database fields that were added after the last backup was created. With the intention of maintaining data and record consistency.
No matter what the hack or exploit we will get your site and business restored. As well provide details on how the vulnerability happened along with measures to prevent a reoccurrence.
My site was hacked before I signed up, will you still help?
Of course! We’ve got lots of experience cleaning up after a disaster. We’re pretty good at getting nasty malware out of a site. We’ll follow our security and recovery action plan to restore your site and reputation in no time.
*If its an extremely harmful hack/malware and you don’t have a safe backup we might not be able to fully recover everything as it was, but we can help you design or develop content to replace any loss. Our design services are exceptional.
